AGC Inc. โ€” the Tokyo-listed parent company of AGC Chemicals Europe Ltd โ€” holds its 101st Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on Friday 27 March 2026 at 10:00 AM JST. AGC Chemicals Europe, operator of the Hillhouse site in Thornton-Cleveleys, is a wholly-owned subsidiary.

AGC Inc. and the Hillhouse Site

AGC Chemicals Europe Ltd โ€” the operator of the Hillhouse industrial site in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire โ€” is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AGC Inc. AGC Inc. is headquartered in Tokyo and is one of the world’s largest glass and chemicals manufacturers.

AGC Chemicals Europe Ltd’s 2024 annual accounts (Companies House number 03825057) note that AGC Inc. has provided a letter of financial support for the UK subsidiary, guarantees the UK company’s ยฃ13 million bank loan, and is the ultimate parent entity for the group undertakings to which approximately ยฃ25.5 million is owed by the UK subsidiary.

The Hillhouse site manufactures fluoropolymers โ€” principally PTFE and ETFE โ€” and discharges process wastewater to the River Wyre. The Environment Agency is currently conducting an investigation into PFAS contamination on land in the area following the identification of elevated PFOA concentrations in soil near the site. The investigation, which began with Phase 1 soil sampling in 2023, has progressed through multiple phases and remains active.

The AGM is a standard annual event in AGC Inc.’s corporate calendar. AGC’s fiscal year runs from January to December, with the AGM held in March following year-end.
